Best Friends

My dear friend, Ashley, had her son Sam only two weeks after Rose. It was fun to be pregnant together (well, as fun as being pregnant gets), and now getting to go through each baby development stage together.
Ashley and her husband Dan were planning on moving to Louisville way before it was even an idea for us. In God's kindness, we moved here only three weeks after them! It's been fun to already have a very close friend here, and it's so cute to watch our babies play "around" each other. (Except for when Sam takes Lamby. Then Rose gets invovled.)

PS
I'm sure I could figure out the exact sequence of the photos (it's not in order) but it's kinda comical just to look at them from top to bottom.

Sweet Girl

Hi, Mom! Just being adorable and playing with my basket of toys!

The Favorite New Activity

I'm sure the grandparents will mostly enjoy these - but they're rather fun.

Sea Otter!

Sea otters are my favorite animal, and I usually watch them in Monterey, one of my favorite cities in California. So, I was super excited about this Halloween costume for Rose. Unfortunately, the online reviews said the costume "ran really big!" so I bought a 6-12 month size (Rose is a 30" 9 mos. old), and...she didn't fit. Much too short on the torso; we couldn't even get her shoulders in. Oh well, we took some pictures with her wearing the hat!

Next year (who knows what she'll be?!) we're planning on taking her to the trick or treating event at the Louisville Zoo. For now, she'll just play in the house with a seat otter hat. : )

Quote on Death and Dignity

An interview with Dr. Scott Rae, professor of Religions and Ethics at Talbot Seminary, by Peter Hastie of the 'Australian Presbyterian' magazine.

C.S. Lewis once warned that a society that uncritically accepts the wonders of biotechnology will eventually undermine the basis for human dignity. Do you think he is overstating the position?
No. I don't. I think Lewis' concerns for the loss of human dignity have been realized. The frotnal assault on human dignity began in earnest over 20 years ago as we developed new tehcnologies to do abortions and to allow people to follow through with assisted suicide. I find it inronic that we use assisted suicide and euthanasia as a means of ensuring death with dinigty when, theologoically of course, there is nothing dignified about death. Death and dying represent the ultimate triumph of sin. In modern secular culture we presume that we can somehow have a dignified death by using technology to circumvent the normal process of dying. This is nonsense. In reality, the only dignity in dying is that you face the loss of control and faculties with courage and resolve. That is what brings dignity.

New Special Edition E-Journal

I always say this, but I can vouch how hard they all worked on this. It's an important conversation and I'm glad for 9Marks' contribution!

Also, Bobby has two book reviews in there. Not light bed-time reading, but good stuff to think about if you can work through it!
