Awkward Conversations

There have been a couple times now where Bobby and I will be chatting with an aquaintance, or some well-meaning stranger, and they will look at me and then say, "Wow! You can't even tell you've had a baby!" And then I'm like, "...Well, I got a little sick after, so that helped take off some of the weight!" And then it's like, "Ah. A stomach thing?" "Yup, something like that." I don't really want to go into it (as Bobby pointed out, it kind of goes beyond the boundaries of normal conversation: "And then they took out my intestines and power-washed my abdominal cavity!"). So, I'm getting good at letting people know something happened, but not scaring people with all the details - as all of the people who have commented on my weight are child-bearing age women. I've been able to talk a lot with close friends, but I don't want to go around spreading the story. Pregnant ladies worry enough as it is!
