"If You Have a Problem with Butter, Just Use Cream!"

Julia Child is a cultural icon. Her skill, drive and wonderful ability to teach changed the shape of American food culture for the better. Because of her, women felt freed to try new, different and much more difficult things in the kitchen. As a former anthropology student and a person who loves to cook, I just find Child fascinating. So it was with much excitement that we went to the American History Smithsonian and saw her kitchen! We both loved the exhibit and had a blast looking at all her cool tools and gizmos. Enjoy some pictures below.

Turkey Run

For Father's Day I got Bobby a book of hikes within 60 miles of DC. On Saturday we went to a place called "Turkey Run" about 25 minutes away from our house in DC. We had a wonderful time.

My Review of Radical Womanhood

Hey, I'm famous now. Sorta...

The End of Marriage? and Al Moehler's Response

A friend recently posted this article from Newsweek on her Facebook. When I read the article, written by two women, all I could think was, 'Listen ladies - I am willingly not part of your supposed sisterhood.' Everything from their tone to the way they handle statistics to their not-so-humble statements about marriage and the home just hit me the wrong way.

Lucky for me, Al Moehler did a way better job articulating just what I felt. Read it here.

DeYoung-liners

I really like pastor and author Kevin DeYoung's work. Here is a link to a blog post by CJ Mahaney listing some good quotes from a recent talk DeYoung gave at the NEXT conference.

My two favorites:

'Those of you who have issues with the church, let me warn you that disillusionment can become an idol. You can easily find your identity in being jaded.'

'Our generation in particular is prone to radicalism without follow-through. We want to change the world and we have never changed a diaper.'
