National Folklife Festival

(I can't figure out how to flip pictures...hopefully a skill I'll develop soon).

On Saturday Bobby and I traveled down to the Mall for the National Folklife Festival, sponsored by the Smithsonian. This year the regions/peoples studied were Latin America, Wales (or Cymru, in Welsh), and the oral/literary traditions of African-Americans, past and present.

For all three, there was great music, interesting exhibits and delicious food. We had a great time singing Welsh folk songs. Bobby was particularly good at this (they're quite robust singers). One of the songs we sang was a hymn we sing at CHBC - "Guide Me Thou Great Jehovah". Turns out in Wales they sing it during rugby matches...

We didn't go at a meal time but are planning on maybe going back Thursday or Friday, to listen to some Latin American music and eat roasted chicken, french fries, and Inka Cola from Peru!
